The Art of Peacemaking: the Gun Sculpture Returns. A limited time exhibit. September 7-14
Edmonton’s Gun Sculpture Installation is an iconic Canadian artwork that has toured the world since 2000. Composed of tons of deactivated weapons from around the world, it was selected as a feature exhibit for the Canadian Pavilion at the Worlds Fair, Hannover, Germany (reviewed in the top three to visit) and was the feature presentation in Seoul, Korea’s Centennial celebration of the Nobel Peace Prize. It has toured to three continents, showing in art and war museums, United Nation’s headquarters, and at global festivals. Press and scholars from over 80 countries have covered the exhibits in media, books and film. Over two million people have viewed the artwork.
Although created for Canada’s Millennial Celebrations in 2000 the message and need of peace rings stronger today than ever before
After twenty years of touring, the artists have decided to permanently place the artwork.
The local artists, Sandra Bromley and Wallis Kendal want to offer Albertans one last opportunity to view this historic artwork before leaves the province permanently. Please join them at the exhibit.
