Health & Safety

We hold your health and safety above all.

Providing a safe and healthy venue for our staff, guests, clients and business partners is our number one priority. We want you to be confident that we have taken all steps necessary to ensure our venue is among the safest places to host and attend events.

Health and Safety Protocols

In addition to following all public health restrictions implemented by the Government of Alberta, Alberta Health Services and the City of Edmonton, we have enhanced our health and safety protocols throughout our entire operations. Some highlights include:

Staff Screening

Edmonton EXPO Centre staff will be subject to enhanced screening measures upon arrival to their shifts.

Physical Distancing

Protocols will help maintain a two-meter distance between you and other people outside your group cohort.

Cleaning and Sanitization

We will increase the frequency of which all front-of-house and high-contact areas are cleaned and sanitized.

Restrictions Exemption Program

Effective Friday, October 1, to access the Edmonton EXPO Centre, people ages 12 and older must provide proof of vaccination or documentation of a medical exemption or show proof of a negative test result:

  • October 1 to October 25: proof of a single dose is considered acceptable as long as the dose was given more than two weeks before the time of entry.
  • After October 25: proof of double vaccination is required.
  • Tests must be privately-paid COVID-19 PCR or rapid tests completed within 72 hours before accessing the venue or event.
  • Tests must not be from Alberta Health Services or Alberta Precision Laboratories.

During the initial stages of this program, guests should plan to arrive at facilities earlier than normal. We ask for patience as our employees and event teams review patrons’ individual vaccination status or recent negative test results.

Healthy Venues Plan

We encourage you to familiarize yourself with all health and safety protocols that will be in place during your next visit to the Edmonton EXPO Centre. Our Healthy Venues Plan is informed by the latest information from the Government of Alberta and Alberta Health Services and is backed by best practices in cleaning and sanitization.

Healthy Venues Plan

GBAC STAR Facility Accreditation

The Edmonton EXPO Centre is among the first venues in Canada to successfully achieve the GBAC Star Accreditation, which is the cleaning industry’s only outbreak prevention, response and recovery accreditation for facilities. This means our cleaning and sanitation programs are accredited and validated by the gold standard program that prepares venues with the right systems to protect against biorisks, including COVID-19.

Health & Safety FAQ

The Edmonton EXPO Centre has developed our Healthy Venues Plan—a document of protocols that are implemented to ensure our venue remains among the safest places to plan and attend events. Before coming to an event at our venue, we encourage you to acquaint yourself with all protocols within the Healthy Venues Plan. Guests can expect the following measures to be in place:

  • Onsite signage will remind you of physical distancing and personal preventative measures we can all take to protect ourselves from COVID-19.
  • We will increase the frequency of which high-contact areas are cleaned and sanitized.
  • We will reduce event space, elevator and restroom capacities to comply with public health restrictions.
  • Increased hand sanitizer stations will be available throughout the venue.
