Canadian Elite Basketball League Announces Name and Logo of Edmonton Team
EDMONTON, AB (June 22, 2018) – Edmonton better get ready for basketball to swarm the city in the summer of 2019. The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced today that the local team will officially be named the Edmonton Stingers.
“I can’t tell you how excited I am, and the team is, to be part of the Edmonton sports landscape,” says Lee Genier, President & Chief Operating Officer of Western Operations for the CEBL, “Our vision is to put on an amazing entertainment package that really appeals to everyone. This is an amazing opportunity to bring people to the city from across the country.”
The CEBL announced on May 2, 2018 that Edmonton would be one of the six teams that will compete in the inaugural 20-game season. The league will adhere to FIBA rules and will run through spring and summer, beginning in May 2019. The CEBL intends to showcase and grow Canadian basketball talent while providing fans with a dynamic before, during and after-game experience.
