EDMONTON (November 1, 2018) – The Edmonton Stingers, members of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), today announced the schedule for their inaugural season starting in May 2019.

Playing out of the Edmonton EXPO Centre, the Stingers will play ten home games starting with their season opener on May 10th against the Niagara River Lions. The schedule also features two home-and-home series with the Saskatchewan Rattlers  (May 31-June 6, and August 8-9). Additional theme nights and special events will be announced closer to the start of the season.

Modelled after top international professional leagues, the CEBL is comprised of original six teams in Hamilton, Edmonton, Guelph, St. Catharines, Abbotsford, and Saskatoon. Each team plays 10 home and 10 road games using FIBA (International Basketball Federation) rules, and player and referee standards set by Canada Basketball. Rosters will be comprised of at least 70 percent Canadian players, many playing professionally in North America and overseas during the traditional basketball season.

“The release of the inaugural season schedule is very special and exciting,” said Stingers President and COO, Lee Genier. “We are ready to give fans in Edmonton a truly unique sport and entertainment experience that will have fans of all ages eagerly anticipating the next game. The summer schedule allows us to position our games with exciting activities before and after games where all our fans and community members will be welcome. I am elated to see the best of professional Canadian basketball talent entertaining Canada’s most rabid sports fans here in Edmonton.”

The inaugural season promises to bring fast-paced professional basketball to the city of Edmonton. The Season Ticket Deposit period is still open, ensuring fans first choice at their preferred seat in the Edmonton Expo Centre. Season tickets range in price from $199 to $750 and go on sale later in November on Ticketmaster, the official ticketing partner of the CEBL. Fans will be able to visit www.ticketmaster.ca or the Ticketmaster app for the widest selection of verified tickets.
