Shrinking Our Footprint – Expanding Our Horizons
At Edmonton EXPO Centre, we subscribe to a comprehensive energy management program in order to make our operating systems and equipment as energy efficient as possible.
There are two energy management systems in use on site: Siemens System 600 and Johnson Controls Incorporated (JCI) Metasys System, which were installed based on the need for central control of lighting, heating, ventilating, air conditioning and ice making systems. The systems consist of microprocessor based field cabinets located in each building controlled from one central location known as Building Control, which is located at the Maintenance Shop. There are more than 7,000 monitor and control points connected to the energy management system.
Edmonton EXPO Centre employs aggressive programs to minimize the volume of waste generated by our on-site operations. We “reduce, reuse and recycle” as part of the daily fabric of our on-site operations.
Edmonton EXPO Centre recycles the following material / products: Cardboard, fluorescent tubes, electronic equipment, beverage containers, organic material from our kitchens, paper, cooking grease, batteries, motor oil and filters, vehicle tires, scrap metal, wood and photocopy toner cartridges.
How are we doing it?
- Composting—everything from organic waste to the morning’s coffee grinds will be placed into the new green bins.
- Recycling—from all the usual suspects (paper and containers) to napkins, coffee cups and cooking oil. There are 3 stream marked recycled containers on-site allowing guests to assist in our mission.
Edmonton EXPO Centre Code Green
Edmonton EXPO Centre Code Green means we are committed to decreasing our carbon print, utilizing methods to reduce, reuse and recycle and give back to the environment. While the Edmonton EXPO Centre is BIG, we are determined to make our impact on the environment small. Hosting your event or tradeshow at the EXPO Centre means code green and that’s good news for all of us.
